Do you miss the Concert (Harmony) of KPop Era, circa 2010-2014, led by SM?

  • After Waterloo, the Congress of Vienna set up the order in Europe, and every country in Europe was more or less in harmony with each other.

That is called the Concert of Europe , a state of peace as the Industrial Revolution took place in the Continent. Of course, no one invited USA so it was not part of that.

It was one of the best era of all of history, but the Revolutions of 1848 ended it because that led to the regimes of several countries changing and people like Metternich and Wellington retired once for all..

When SNSD defeated all of its competition at 2010, a Concert of KPop took place, with SM at the absolute top and everyone else finding its niche like a firm order which could not be shaken.

With the tacit understanding that SNSD and SM acts are the masters and no one allowed to change it, KPop had its greatest expansion to date, since SM showed the way and others followed.

There was one certain soloist who continued to challenge SNSD and SM, but since she was not part of a group she was set aside as an outlier, and although her defeat of SNSD in Dec 2011 shook the order a bit, she had no allies so the Concert of Kpop continued and she stopped being a threat thru something which occurred on Nov 2012.

Psy's Gangnam Style craze happened out of Korea and it was considered an outlier too; it did not change the power structure of Kpop at all.

Like an iron wall, the order set up by SM stood firm for 4 years, when ---- Wu Yifan left Exo on May 15, 2014, probably the day the Concert of Kpop ended, following the infamous Sewol Ferry incident which stopped Kpop for 2014.

Jessica Jung and Luhan followed, and SM faced its greatest crisis while the soloist, basically the only person who was not part of the Order set by SM, released Flower Bookmark on May 16, 2014, the day after SM's horrors started.

That ended the SM domination of KPop, and SM has never dominated KPop since the departure of Chris Wu.

Do you miss the era of SM domination when everything flowed like clockwork?
