do you think sm will finally succeed in the US with AESPA?

  • after their numerous attempts since first generation?

    Approved the thread.
  • With better songs, better choreo and improved stage presence, yes.

It better songs means something like what BTS have been releasing lately then I'd rather Aespa never do well in the west :pepe-life-support:

Also btw, your post reeks of xenophobia. This belief that Koreans HAVE to upgrade in order to please the superior westerners is <X

Huh?! I just don't like Aespa's songs. What's wrong with that?

    Is everything Xenophobia now?

so, you mean 'disjointed noise' is Korean?

  • Why do they need to reach that success? Also Snsd had the legendary remix of the boys ft snoop dog.

  • I'm not sure. America likes music that flows easily . Thats why YG acts have been getting a fairly better reception in the west compared to SM

Tbh I don't see any 4th gen group currently is capable of that. but well see

  • so, you mean 'disjointed noise' is Korean?

It has been the defining and differentiating characteristic of kpop since Seo Taiji, yes.

Turns out a lot of people like it, in all corners of the planet.

cant imagine how strained your muscles must be after that stretch

  • To be completely honest? No.

It seems just as they start doing something right for the market (having a small 4 member group), they counter it with something stupid (having a weird concept).

Asians and hyper-technology going together have always been a bit of a stereotype in the West, and unfortunately, the whole avatar concept on top of the noise music does nothing to stray away from that. It plays into the negative stereotype about Kpop being a mass-produced, manufactured corporate that lacks that natural human essence.

If SM wants to get big in the U.S, they would get rid of the robot, AIs, noise music and try a different concept.

  • start by singing live first atleast

  • Why is this in anon?

possible with the right song and the right promo.

Sm hasn't convinced me so far in these 2 areas. ---Macy and kelly are not the right promo - full of american moms and grandma (not aespa target market).

-Westerners like 'normal' song ala blackpink and bts not the song talking about kwangya

There're nothing wrong with the concept even zuckerberg jumped into the world of metaverse too. Elon also

  • Depends what you mean by success. Sell albums due to better distribution just like NCT, Twice, Itzy among others are doing, yes. Come anywhere close to what BTS or BP do, I highly doubt it, those 2 are just anomalies

  • Aespa has 2 hits so far, call it disjoint all you want but native Korean speakers obviously like it.

I know. If Koreans like it, good for them 😀 .

I'm just answering op's question that noise music might not make it in the States if SM is aiming for BB hot 100 top20 at least.

And a Korean song, 'Life Goes On' had already topped BB HOT 100, so my comment above was not Xenophobic. You can say it was because of ARMY, but you gotta have enough fans liking your music to make it to Bb hot 100,especially top 10. That's all.

  • I don't think they appeal to international market itzy has an advantage over them in that regard
