why are some TOP acts struggling to get yt views and spotify streams?

I mean they are big groups that can sell 500k plus. why do they have to buy ads to make themselves look relevant?

    Approved the thread.
  • because boy groups are flop

  • Western artists have less views but high spotify numbers bcs gp doesn't stream on spotify but idk about kpop acts. Maybe their c bars bulk buy album but don't stream because YouTube is ban on china?

  • Streams come from casual listeneres. Groups like NCT don't have casual listeneres, they have hard-core fans that stream and buy albums, that's why they have great sale numbers but not very high streams. It's the same people streaming and buying. And you know what? There's nothing wrong with that, mass appeal isn't necessary for a group to succeed and their music is an acquired taste anyway.

  • For real... I was shocked learning Seventeen just now reached a 4M peak on Spotify after like 6 years when everyone is in aespa's business when they're already above 5.25M in their debut year lol...

  • Because fans a listening to the songs on the cds duh

  • Do you not realize the OP is about Aespa LMAO

"500k plus sales yet have to buy ad views"

Seventeen sell far more than 500k and don't buy ad views

So Seventeen supposedly sell 2M per album but can barely reach 4M listeners on Spotify and 1.2M likes on YouTube after 6 years but OP tried to make a point aespa has a big disconnect when they do better on both platforms in their first year? And Seventeen do buy ads, and once ads removed aespa still crush them in non-ads views with way more likes lol

  • OP is wrong then. Mys is the strongest streamers in SM beside exol also the fastest GG to reached 5m monthly listener on Spotify lol

Ggs have better casual listeners than bgs. It has nothing to do with MYs being stronger streamers. Bgs stans have mostly been the strongest streamers

Please how is a YouTube views or Spotify the only metric for success? Your only using this chance to drag Seventeen, and let me tell you 4M listeners is not a drag you think it is. A lot of their fanbase is from Japan, Korea, and China and that automatically takes China out of the picture since they do not use Spotify at all, nor is Korea very keen on Spotify either. Also not to mention, Kpop wasn’t as big as it is now, it recently got even bigger during the pandemic— the circumstances have a huge role to play here as well, not to mention Aespa is from big 3 as well, so already they had the hype to begin with even before their debut. I don’t think you should be comparing Aespa to svt when in general svt could crush aespa in other aspects. Let’s not play that game.
