SuperM 2 years later: Avengers of kpop or Pretenders who flopped?

  • Well, what's YOUR opinion?

  • Superm was such an embarrassment. I bet eve boys hate it.

  • It was just an interesting project. I don't get why anyone would feel "embarrassed" by it when K-pop is known for doing things like this all the time. Really not that serious.

  • SM was really embarrassing at that time with their media play. I seriously felt sorry for the idols involved. Some looked totally exhausted.

  • glad it ended, I must say the super one album was good, would've prefered if it were given to wayv instead tho. Saddest part is how it became a set up for members being constantly insulted by immagure stans from other groups within the sub unit, I had to defend Ten on the internet for free a lot.

  • Yikes

The whole thing was really cringe

  • cringe ajd inorganic...

  • I don't think it really took over the west like SM intended so on that front... not really successful, but it was a fun project overall. Their discography is strong.

  • flops without the bundles

  • well..

they embarassed the kpop industry with bundling and not singing live in their showcase and tv show performances. as someone from the us, i notred that i have never seen a kpop act heavily pushed in us as superm...

  • I would be cool with SM being cringe for another 100 years if they gave us another ep like superms debut ep .

  • Super M was the Joss Whedon Justice League of kpop

  • They had strong discography, I don't understand why they get insulted a lot

  • SM played it wrong honestly they had a star lineup filled with talents and you give them outdated songs?? I'm all for edm and experimental music I like NCT direction of it but SuperM was so outdated imo

They had some amazing b sides but they gave no push for it or even promoted them by word

I was not at all surprised they didn't do well

  • Well it is hard to release music with two members in the military and one away from the spotlight and with an uncertain future. Also we don't know if the EXO members will continue under SM once their contracts end next year (Baek still has to make up for his military service but Kai will have no time issue unless he enlists soon).

The line up is stellar, the music was good, the concept is ok, the mediaplay is embarrasing.

  • I wished sm would have invested in real groups instead.

  • They are one of the few Kpop groups to top the U.S. album charts, so they are hardly the flops people make them out to be. (Yes there were bundles involved but other groups had bundles too and couldn’t top the charts.) SM made some poor choices in the promoted singles - the bsides are strong and had tracks that would have fit more comfortably into the US music scene. I also think another English speaker - or one more engaging than Mark - would have helped in the often awkward interviews. I think though that it did what SM also intended - to be a gateway to other SM groups. There is a solid core of people who got into EXO, Shinee, NCT and/or WayV through SuperM.
