I’m jealous of those my age group who have children

samee I've always liked kids and am going into a career that involves working with them but the thought of having my own is where I draw the line. I don't have the right attitude to convince myself or my kids in the future that it was a good idea to have brought kids into a world like this.

I didn't have my daughter until my 30's when some of my peers had had kids in their 20's. I felt that was a little young and I didn't have a suitable partner at the time. As a mother who has raised a child for 19 years, I can tell anyone it's no picnic. It's the hardest thing I have ever done but feel so grateful and she is literally the best thing that has ever happened to me but if anyone is to embark on a journey to parenthood, make sure it is for the right reasons, you have found the right partner and you can provide physically, emotionally and financially. My advice would be not to be jealous as it isn't all it's cracked up to be and it does change your life but not always in a good way. Don't do it just because everyone else is. I'm so glad I had my daughter in 2002, sure we had terrorism then but it's better than now with this COVID scourge. Frankly, I wouldn't want to put a child through that.

I have a kid and it's wonderful (for me) it might not be for you or not the right time but it can be a glorious experience just as it can be a really shitty experience...
