    There's only one answer to that question, money. Signing with SM is a business, SM made Jessica what she was so they weren't going to let her use her SM popularity to make personal money.


    Also, people say some of the girls and their parents said no too. It's complicated.

    Yeah I remember that rumor that the girls' parents had a big say so in it. But still...SM could've easily asked for a cut of her profits in exchange for the use of the name "girls generation" to promote her products. It shouldn't have led to her being kicked out of the group.

    SM promoted Blanc a lot and partnered with Jessica after she left the group and even after she left the company. Also, she never used the SNSD name to promote Blanc the same way the other promote their own activities

    If she wasn't allowed to have her company, they probably would have terminated her contract pretty immediately
