Kinda wish BTS would do the 5+ or 10+ versions that ppl are doing nowadays, it would be interesting to see army's buying power with those kind of numbers!

But to answer your question, I think ppl hold them to a different standard because their faves aren't at the same level so they "adjust" BTS's metrics to their faves instead of the other way around. Does it work? No. Do they keep doing it anyway? Yes :-D

It’s ironic that BTS has always been held at a different standard even way before they got huge..it’s like even then people already scared of BTS and what they could achieved..

If BTS sold their album now with merch like socks and scarfs, people here would loose their bloody minds but if it’s other groups, they will gladly close their eyes and look away. Why? Cos haters.
