Tight living expenses in NYC (excluding rent) is about $13,200 annually. Rent is going to range around (~$900 for a room to +$3k for an apartment).
I did a google search and this is from the most to least expensive:
Ireland>UK>U.S.>Canada
It all really depends on the city though.

Thats crazy. Here in Vancouver, a one room apartment can cost over $1,300.
