Suggestion Idea: User-Created Badges

  • Since custom badges are time consuming to make and there's high demand and short supply of limited badges now, I came up with a process that could fulfill mass amounts of demand with minimal staff workload.

Essentially users would create their own custom badges (since there are many users here that are very capable of making them up to standards and limitations), get approval from the staff, while draining large amounts of akorns from the economy at once.

Note: this would be different from limited edition badges that have a limited quantity/time supply.

    PROCESS:

    1. Users create their own custom badges following the staff’s guidelines.

    2. Badges are submitted by one user and can only be submitted as a batch of 10 badges upfront, paid in a lump sum with a list of all the users receiving the badge.

    3. Staff either accepts or rejects the badge and the user can resubmit a fixed version if revisions are necessary.

    4. If accepted, badges are distributed to the 10 users on the list.

    5. Additional batches of 10 badges can be purchased depending on how many users are interested.

    EXAMPLE:

A badge creator with a badge shop in the aesthetics marketplace makes a badge. They get 24 people interested in buying the badge.

Say a batch of 10 badges costs 8,000 akorns (or however much, just using this as an example)

Each user pre-pays the creator for a badge at their own price. The standard would be to upcharge a bit so the creator can get their badge for free (say 1,000 akorns for some profit, or 900 akorns to break close to even, with a bit of extra profit on additional badges).

    Batch 1
    1. Creator
    2. User
    3. User
    4. User
    5. User
    6. User
    7. User
    8. User
    9. User
    10. User
    Batch 2
    1. User
    2. User
    3. User
    4. User
    5. User
    6. User
    7. User
    8. User
    9. User
    10. User
    Batch 3
    1. User
    2. User
    3. User
    4. User
    5. User
    6.
    7.
    8.
    9.
    10.

Once the 1st batch is filled, akorns are collected and the batch is submitted.

After approval, Batch #2 can be purchased and distributed without going through the approval process again.

There would essentially be 2 items in the akorn shop:

    User-Created Badge [1st Batch]
Batch of 10 custom badges. Must be approved by staff and follow badge guidelines.
    User-Created Badge [Additional Batches]
Batch of 10 custom badges. Only purchase this for badges that have already been approved by the staff.

Optional ideas for partially filled batches:

    1. Any users in additional batches that can't be filled (in this example, batch #3), approved badges can be put into a special shop where user made badges are sold at an upcharged price (say 1500 akorns or w/e). A small percentage of each badge sold in the shop goes to the creator of the badge.

    2. Additional batches reduced to 5 instead of the initial 10.

    3. Just wait to get a batch of 10, and if it never happens, those users are shit outta luck 78689-johnny2-gif

  • I think this could be a really neat idea. With some fandoms not being as large, it would potentially give them an avenue to create a memento or for things that may not be limited badge worthy.

Plus it can help build up the user aesthetics shops with another type of service.

  • I really love this idea, which seems to solve several issues at once - continuing to drive excitement around comebacks, which gets people chatting on the site, allowing more fandoms - large and small - to get badges and things that drive people to get more akorns, whether it’s posting or purchasing.
