Well I liked reading Victorian fiction which has stuck with me.

She is good at singing, acting, management, real estate speculation, writing lyrics in Korean and photography.
Not good at promoting in the West though.
Your obsession with the West is rather than of a colonized slave.
It is at least understandable, if IU wasn't an immense success in Korea, then yes West being the larger market, is an option she should try.
But why should she bother with something that requires her to give up her creative control, just got more money, more popularity.
That's just greed, to give up one's essense for dollars.
She is more a creator than performer, it is easier for performers to switch languages and cultures, rarely so for creators.

USA is now like the major league of the world's pop culture.
With BTS conquering it and other acts carving their niches, Lee Jieun being stuck in Korea makes her somewhat inferior to others who are willing to make the sacrifices to strike a niche in the west.
