Same. I like horror aesthetics, but I hate watching horror movies because they don't scare me.
I just end up paying attention to how contrived and predictable it is because the storyline revolves around creating as many scary moments as possible. It's always people constantly making terrible decisions and I find that more annoying than anything else. Horror tv series are even worse, because they just draw out the stupidity even longer.
Shows like Handmaid's Tale actually scare the shit out of me though, because it's something that could actually happen and has happened (in a loosely similar way) in other countries throughout history.
I usually prefer body horror movies or the ones that depict either paranoia or madness because I find them better at eliciting tension and discomfort, the plot can be unpredictable at times.
