The probl is not the voting per se, it's the money involved:
1. Fan clubs suspecting they are being defrauded because in every show there are some fan groups who can show that they raised literally millions of dollars more than some of the debuting line and yet their fave did not make it,
2. The big Tony issue of possible tainted money from their parents' alleged drug dealing at their KTV bar, it also hints of organized crime,
3. The massive waste of yogurt drinks that fans are encouraged to buy in order to vote.
If fans can vote without the heavy exchange of money, then that goes away. But the money from the sponsors -- which makes the stages so elaborate in China -- might also go away.

Not to mention the voting is a big source of income.
