KPop 2025 was the worst year of KPop since 2015 when Big Bang competed against EXO and no other acts, with the exception of GFriend, challenging the order.
2025 was mostly dominated by APT. and Golden, both of them not involving any Koreans. (Stop the argument that Roseanne Park, MBE is Korean. She is not.)
1. The most important topic is the sorry perf of the 4.5th gen of KPop.
All , every one of them, did not do too great this year, raising serious doubts about the continuity of Kpop as a going concern.
KPop as we know can't continue like this with no major new acts- instead of advancing, they all lost ground.
2. the domination of foreign-based 'KPop'
I described it above, no need to say it again.
3. the whim of a billionaire shaking KPop
KPop has become so vulnerable that the whim of a billionaire, Annie Moon, dominated it during the summer until Huntr/x' Golden silenced her.
No other acts could dare to attack it.
Which has turned Kpop into the playground of billionaires, like F1 racing or yacht races.
4. The elimination of the greatest threats within KPop
At least there are some positive things in 2025.
In 2025, IU and Min Heejin ceased to be major threats against Kpop.
MHJ was essentially defanged via a series of lawsuits, and IU, the singer who undermined KPop whenever she felt like for 15 long years, was finally silenced by APT. and Golden. She was given a Grand Prize for ACTING in the AAA award, with a grand total of one (Shuhua of Idle) congratulating her and everyone else, incl Stray Kids, ADP and even Woodz, from her own company, ignoring her like a non entity.
That is equivalent to giving Winston Churchill a Nobel Prize in Literature, instead of Peace, in 1953. Churchill was 79, not a young age back then, and still showed no sign of relinquishing power, so giving him a Literature prize is like telling him to retire , not recognizing his achievement in the global stage and relegating him in the same league as Rudyard Kipling, the author of Jungle Book.
So, while generally 2025 was negative for KPop, at least it did remove two of the greatest threats from within once for all so it was not entirely meaningless year.
