I-DLE "GOOD THING" (GLOBAL & SOUTH KOREA) SPOTIFY NO WHERE TO BE FOUND

  • I am confused that people are confused about the name change. They just dropped the "G", so it shouldn't be hard to figure out it's the same group.

Using spotify to measure Idle's success sounds like people trying to attack them. They were never a group that charted well globally like that. Out of the 4th gen group it's mainly NewJeans, Le Sserafim, and Aespa that charted well globally. Hybe groups will always have the advantage in that. Also, people shouldn't care that much and care more about the quality. The quality of the project is fine imo and they have solid b-sides, so we should be happy about that. Also, the group usually starts off slow imo when it comes to domestic charts

I mean, even Yuqi forget the name change!🤣🤣🤣

About Spotify. Not to compare, but this is i-dle vs Le Sserafim! I just picked a random girl group, so don't attack me LSF fans!

    Their Spoti numbers:

    LSF:

Not sure about their debut numbers, but this stat is enough to prove my point. These are their numbers after 2 months. Like, it's not even fair comparison, and LSF is not even the biggest name on Spotify.

  • Koreans never pronounced the G, so I doubt the name change matters. Also, I think expectations are too high after the success of Fate. This is what you would expect. Good/strong album sales and a slow climb up the domestic charts as they make rounds on variety shows/youtube shows.

They never pronounced the G, but their name still changed in hangul.

    (G)I-DLE ((여자)아이들) and now i-dle (아이들)

  • Which website or app is that?

Hybe groups are harder to compete against because they have hybe fully backing them and will playlist their songs. Cube doesn't have the resources to compete against the big 4 groups like that. So, Spotify isn't always the best tool to measure success.

I do think some of the discourse about Idle numbers seem to have some bad actors in play imo.

You mean that stats? This one.

I could've added Aespa with 70M playlisting or ILLIT with more than 150M. 🤣

People sleep on that fact that is a major advantage groups from the big 4 have. The groups below them don't have resources for playlisting, YouTube ad campaigns, and other tactics for visibility. Of course a hit is a hit and will get played, but there's external forces in play in why it's easier for a big 4 group to produce a hit and have visibility.

For korean, its can be confusing with saturated group debut and different name can be know as new group. This will take time for casual listeners to get used. 'G-idle' in korean is 'yeoja aideul' which lost of 'G' can be confusing when just 'aideul'

  • OR maybe they have big fanbase

If every group that has a big fanbase can have hundreds of millions of streams or even billions, half the industry would have those numbers, but only a handful of groups have that luxury.

It's not about fanbase at all! It's time for people to realize you need to do hardcore PR to achieve those numbers.

Groups like TWICE, BTS, Blackpink NewJeans, Aespa, ILLIT, LSF etc has like 100M or even more Playlisting and if just HALF of those lists generates them 1 STREAM/List, that's 50M streams already!

    It's basic math.

  • I guess enough time has passed, we can now say that i-dle flopped.

Flopped in terms of what is expected from them, obviously I wish my faves could chart as well as Good Thing and Girlfriend did.

  • What a run though. I am shocked they didn't get this time around because competition seemed less fierce, but good thing didn't connect with the audience.
