but if i'm being honest, i've never seen any girlgroup make a great cover of 2NE1 song
first of all they just doesn't have the energy to pull it off, the energy during the chorus was so off in this cover to me
and i think they just completely missed the whole point of the song and weren't able at all to embrace the energy or the expression needed to cover this song
the message of the song literally say " I'm the best" you need to give this energy and the girls here were doing cute expression, playing with their hair, making cute smile etc...
I think no girlgroup will be able to do a good cover of a 2NE1 song simply cuz i think gg now are focusing too much on being pretty, and less on sharing the message of a song

Well said. But as a Blackjack, I appreciate the girls' effort and choice. And to be honest, 2NE1’s songs aren’t an easy task for just anyone they were meant to be performed by CL, Dara, Bom, and Minzy.

it's one of the hardest 2NE1 song to cover, cuz the message of the song is so full of confidence and strong that you need to pull off this energy
you can't go on stage to sing this song while twirling your hair, smiling brightly and making wink
honestly it was a really bad choice of song to cover
if they wanted to cover a 2NE1 song they should have go with Fire cuz fire is more energetic, and have a more "let's have fun" vibe so it would have fit better with the image of the girls, their age, and their skills on stage

Wait i just notice also that they completely scrapped the "boom ratata" part at the start of the song
which is such a horrible move, this part is the part that set the tone for the rest of the song and usually hype the crowd to get into the song in the first second.
It was completely stupid to remove it, that's why i felt it weird how low the energy of the song was at the start compare to how usually it is with 2NE1

I get where you're coming from, and I actually agree that 'I'm the Best' is a really bold choice. But I think that’s exactly why I respect them for trying it. Even if it wasn’t a perfect match, it shows guts and that deserves some credit too.
