  • Agree with others that's it's really not out of the ordinary. I have friends that will say "I love you" anytime they get off a call with their parents, and others like myself who rarely say it but it's still known.

  • Not surprising among the less Westernized.


    More traditional cultures weren't emotionally sappy people, expressing emotions/sentiments were rare and had huge value when done.


    Even West earlier was like that, but contemporary West constantly expresses and wants to be assured of such things, that being dominant, many copy that.


    Most Asians won't be surprised by this at all.
