Does it always have to be about Mexico and not Canada?

Why do Americans talk about the Mexico–United States border but not the Canada–United States border?

Might be an unpopular take but, I do not think the majority of Americans see Mexicans as civilised humans. I think it’s got to do with perceived class and economic status. They are alright with Canadians as they are viewed as civilised humans. Yes, I say majority because at the end of the day Trump won, and by a landslide. I’m British American so i feel like I'm not being biased.

Not only did Trump not win by a landslide, but you're also completely ignoring the fact that a very large percentage of the population didn't even vote. The majority of the country does not like Trump, his views or his policies. Liberals in this country are simply too lazy to shape America's political future, especially as they're competing with loud, determined zealots, but the latter do not make up the majority.
Americans don't see Mexico or other Latin American countries as first world countries, because outside of small pockets they objectively aren't, but you can't extrapolate that into most of America thinking they're "uncivilized." If we thought such a thing due to class, we'd have to say the same of many Americans living in places like the deep South and West Virginia.
