Korean beauty standards change as the source most popular media is consumed changes. In the past it was movies and dramas, where certain types of visuals were preferred like Song Hyegyo and the like. Now many Korean men in particular are avid viewers of streamers. Their fans include male idols, maybe even a CEO or two, who were noted to follow or enjoy dating certain streamers. Women with monolids and prominent cheekbones were not considered traditional beauties, so they found a niche as streamers and they accentuated their looks with heavy makeup, filters and jaw shaves if their chins weren't naturally pointy. This started a trend where a lot of them adopted the "snake visual", that Korean men view as both sexy and cute. It reached kpop as well, where Karina has the biggest Korean male following among popular female idols.
