2024 will have lots and lots of year end awards.
However, since it is extremely unlikely that the singer who had the greatest hit of this year will appear in any of them, it will have a very awkward feeling.
In 2021, BTS decided to forgo all year end awards since they decided it was not worth their trouble.
And aespa could not attend Melon because SM had sent them for a Thanksgiving Parade and was in quarantine for 2 weeks.
That almost brought the end of Korean Awards, until MMA quickly invited the Owner of Edam Entertainment.
The Owner of Edam Entertainment at that time , always trying to undermine KPop, did not lose this invitation and the Owner of Edam Entertainment became the only singer other than BTS to win multiple awards from MMA.
(since her it became customary for the Artist of the Year from MMA to win multiple awards)
The Owner of Edam Entertainment became probably the first Owner of a company to win a Grand Prize when he/she was an owner, because BTS decided to forgo the award and aespa could not attend
Since BTS did not attend MAMA, the Owner of Edam Entertainment ineligible from winning a Grand Prize from MAMA so did not attend, and aespa did, they should have awarded it a Grand Prize but they did not in case they would anger BTS, and MAMA became a lackluster event in 2021, with Lee Hyori and Street Women Fighter dancers concluding it.
Golden Disk invited the Owner of Edam Entertainment, who became the only winner from the Digital category to receive the Main Grand Prize from the owner of Korea Central Daily newspaper who owns JTBC and the Golden Disk Award.
----
While the Owner of Edam Entertainment saved two Korean Year End Awards in 2021, she, no longer owning Edam Entertainment, is no longer that powerful and might only attend the Melon Awards which are still held in Korea for some strange reason since all awards, big or small, are now held outside of there.
aespa and others will attend, but since Roseanne Park will probably not attend any of these awards, the awards will feel like something big is missing.
I think this will be the beginning of the end of KPop Awards, which are just excuses to hold events out of Korea to milk money from fans (except MMA which is still held in Korea).
