So, today Hybe got called out for doing sajaegi, and it got me thinkin, does it really help their groups grow? I doubt they’re the only ones doing this kind of thing. But still for me they are just wasting their money? It's a really expensive old school tactics. For the 4 four companies, especially Hybe, they didn't actually need to do this. Their groups already have everyone's attention and tons of company fan support. So why? For bragging rights? To attract new investors? In the end, they’re the ones who will suffer from all that unnecessary spending. They can’t really stop because if sales drop too much, it’ll just expose them. And doesn’t that also create a fake, overly successful narrative that makes fans feel it’s okay not to buy the album since the group already has millions of sales, when it is actually fake?
Does sajaegi really help boost a group's popularity?

having a high sales -> bragging here and there -> release tons of articles -> overly proud fans -> more people to check them out -> brand deals -> money

Fake it till we make it
Thay holds true most of the time. When a song ranks high, people will check it out of curiosity. It gives the song more exposure.
