BLACKPINK's Jennie’s new song "Mantra" has been deemed unsuitable for broadcast by KBS.
According to the KBS music review results released on the 23rd, "Mantra" was found to violate Article 46 of the Broadcast Review Regulations (Restrictions on Advertising Effects) due to lyrics that mention specific product brands. As a result, the song was ruled unsuitable for broadcast.
When a song is deemed unfit for broadcast, the problematic portions of the lyrics can be revised or removed, after which the song can undergo a re-evaluation. If it fails to pass the review, the song cannot be aired on KBS programs.
"Mantra" is Jennie's first release in over a year since "You & Me" in October last year, and it carries a message of self-love and mutual support.
This isn’t the first time BLACKPINK has faced such a ruling from KBS. In 2022, their song "Pink Venom" was also found to violate the same regulation for mentioning a specific brand, which led to it being excluded from KBS’s Music Bank rankings. At that time, YG Entertainment decided not to modify the lyrics and opted out of appearing on KBS.
In addition to Jennie's "Mantra", NCT's Jaehyun’s "Unconditional" was also deemed unsuitable for broadcast for the same reason—mentioning specific product brands in violation of Article 46.
Other songs that were ruled unsuitable include tracks by G=ONE, wave to earth, Milena, Park Se-woong, CuRvY, Lee Ye-jun, and John Park, among others.
