28 yo former male Idol debuted in 2017 sentenced to 18 months in prison for filming his gf during s*x

  • ‘Choi’ (28), former member of a boygroup debuted in 2017, has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for illegally filming his girlfriend during sex.

Judge Hong Da-sun of the Criminal Division 4 of the Seoul Western District Court sentenced Choi Mo (28), a former idol group member who was charged with using a camera to film and disseminate the Sexual Violence Punishment Act on the 30th, to one year and six months in prison and detained her in court, saying that she was at risk of fleeing.

He was also ordered to complete a 40-hour sexual assault treatment program and to be restricted from working for three years at an institution that works with children and adolescents and an agency that works with people with disabilities.

The court said, "The crime of illegal filming is a serious social problem as it causes sexual humiliation to the victim who has the right to sexual self-determination and does not want to be filmed without permission, induces anxiety that he or she may be the target of illegal filming without realizing it, and undermines trust among members of society."

"The degree of violation of the victims' right to sexual self-determination is very serious, and it is likely that the victims will suffer mental anguish," he said. However, the court said, "The defendant has admitted and is remorseful for the crime, and he has no history of being punished in the same way as the leak after the filming."

Ms. Choi is accused of filming sex scenes and major body parts with Ms. A, whom she was dating, on 18 occasions between July 2022 and May last year. Mr. Choi committed the crime by putting an eye patch on Mr. A and secretly filming him using a silent camera app.

Mr. Choi is also suspected of filming Ms. B, a woman he met at a bar in Seoul's Gangnam District in July last year, four times in her underwear, and so far, the police have identified a total of three victims.

On the other hand, Choi debuted as a five-member idol group in 2017 and stopped his activities in 2019 due to health reasons.
