It is likely that New Jeans will be run like GFriend by Hybe while the most weeks #1 at Melon record will probably stand

  • Despite of all the brouhaha brought by Min Heejin, she will be out of Ador since Hybe has the power to get rid of her and if it does not do so it will lose control on the rest of its labels as their heads will ask for the same treatment.

Since all of Ador's staff are Min Heejin's people all of them will be let go, including 250 and Frank, who worked with NJ because of MHJ.

The girls might stay loyal to MHJ but if they refuse to work Hybe will just keep them in back burner where they will do nothing for 5 years, while Hybe will debut 5 new girl groups to make people forget them and MHJ will move on to some other place to create something new.

With all Ador staff fired, NJ will be moved to some Hybe label directly under Bang's control to be run under Bang's people, but since they had shown loyalty to MHJ, and they are so fit to suit MHJ's style, it is very unlikely that Bang's people will continue to keep them the same style since MHJ will continue to blather about whatever NJ will do for a long time.

Most likely, NJ will be run like GFriend after the Hybe acquisition, in a 'maintenance' mode, given mediocre songs, mediocre styling and mediocre music videos, doing moderately well but kept out of other Hybe acts' views and be put into foreign arena concerts (never a stadium) for the next 5 years. Whether they go back to MHJ in 2029 would be none of Hybe's concern and MHJ by then would have her own act. It would be like a daughter left at the father's house in a messy divorce going back to the mother's house when she has remarried and started a new family. I have not seen SM acts (former or current) who were under MHJ talking about her too much since she is no longer with their company, even those who had left SM. If the members refuse to do that they will just be kept in back burner to spite them.

Most weekly wins in Melon, as of now

SG Wannabe (no longer relevant) 20 weeks

    2NE1 (disbanded) 23 weeks

    New Jeans 23 weeks

    Wonder Girls (disbanded) 29 weeks

Big Bang (effectively disbanded) 50 weeks

    Selected acts not included above

    BTS 17 weeks

    Akmu 18 weeks

    Twice 17 weeks

    SNSD 17 weeks

New Jeans might add a few weeks with this comeback but it is very likely that it will be NJ's final hurrah since its next album won't be produced by MHJ and Hybe will begin to give shitty songs to it, giving better songs to acts directly run by Bang.

I deliberately did NOT include a single figure, who has 65 weeks at Melon Weekly #1 and therefore tops the list, since she is not part of KPop. I never liked the sorry state of a nonKPopper being the most digitally relevant singer in Korea, and expected NJ to dethrone the nonKpopper in the record books, but it seems that won't happen.
