Well Taemin is the total opposite, he started with 'Danger' and the more he became his own artist with his own music style and aesthetic, the more he became more and more famous as a soloist. I think an amazing comparison is that as kids neither MJ or Taemin were classically trained in dance which is what makes their style so unique to themselves
yes you're right. for most idols, not being trained in dance is a weakness - but for Taemin (and Michael) it is different. both of them were naturally inclined to dancing and so both would copy the dance step they saw and did them adding their own spin to them.
