But amid their grief, the couple also face a torrent of online abuse that started when they joined a group calling for an investigation into why government officials failed to prevent the deadly Halloween incident. Right-wing trolls who reportedly interpret such efforts as an attack on the government have lashed out at the family with hundreds of negative comments. Some of the online abuse falsely accuses the victims’ families of being profiteers trying to seek compensation.
