i hope someday city pop becomes trendy again. i miss songs like this one. it's just the perfect music to ballroom dance to when you're hanging out at a retirement home with a bunch of random people's grandparents that all think you're their long lost kid

So I'm always confused what makes something City Pop, is it just another genre within music basically? Do either of these count of city pop or not really? If so, I would be very interested to know what songs are~. 😊

Citypop is an Japanese music style from the 80s, a lot of which takes influence from jazz, disco and softer rock. It's the jazz infusion and general calmer vibe that's usually the biggest indicator on where something is citypop or just retro
