why does disney keep flopping?

Why care when you're swimming in buckets of money?

Meanwhile, the assholes there likely canceled owl house, a very heartwarming cartoon with great LGBTQ+ rep, because of "standards", but then they continue to print sequels and milk the shit out of their other properties. For a company built on being known for having imaginative, family fun entertainment, they sure aren't providing the quality.

At least the parks have a smidge of hope with old management coming back but it'll take a whole lot to fix a shattered rep and I'm not sure they care enough to do so

Yeah. They were supposed to go for a full season 3 and maybe more, but Disney cancelled claiming it "didn't fit their brand".
Though season 3 is still happening technically, but it's limited to 3, 40 minute specials. Naturally this means the writers are forced to resolve a lot of plot points quickly. It's still really good, but you can't help but wonder what the writers would have done if they had more time and freedom.
The 1st episode aired awhile ago, and the final 2 will air sometime next year...

kinda no one cares about it
you'd be surprised. disney still has an unfortunately big and committed fanbase. it's just that their target audience is children, and maybe the moms who have to accompany their kids to movie theaters and monitor what they watch, so it makes sense that it doesn't appeal to you or other users who might comment here.
their old stuff were all stolen from brother Grimm books and European folk tales
They ran out of material to copy
brothers grimm didn't really create their stories either. they just recorded or rewrote the folk tales that were floating around during that time in europe. also, not all of those folks tales are necessarily european. you can trace them back to older peoples.
besides, even if their movies don't get good rating averages, people are still going to watch what they produce, because people learned to have fun critiquing shit entertainment with the abscence of good movies. that's why hollywood still exists.

I mean the whole evil step mom that wants to cannibalize you is very European and doesnt translate well into other cultures.

They forgot how to market their movies. I barely saw anything about The Strange World and didn't even know it was out. I assumed it was the first trailer and would come out next year or something.
