Can Jungkook break out in the west?

  • I am not sure. I don't think his western stans are happy with him performing at fifa. Did you watch his US spotify streams. Dreamers is doing bad than even arson at US spotify. Same with digital orders for dreamers at US store. At bts reddit, there were almost 4k upvote for post criticising his involvement in fifa. Even bts mv release doesn't have this many upvotes.

With this fifa song he does have a chance to become bigger in Asia and Arab countries because he is getting a lot of good press there and most of the streams for song are from India and sea countries.

  • Yes why not? But only if company supports with radioplay, marketing and promo like Harry styles' company did.

  • With his music taste? No

But if he goes for more serious type of songs, he could possibly make it with some label push, otherwise, no.

  • If any BTS member can it's him. Don't think he'll do it with this song but depending on his solo debut and how good his English language skills have gotten (can he manage interviews by himself etc.) I don't think it's impossible.

  • Does he speak English fluently? Will he be able to banter with the picky r*c*sts there? Can he make connections on his own? He has talent but we cannot ignore communication skills AND being appealing to the West outside KPop.

  • i really dont know. with the right song but right now he seems too bland to be more than bts in the west. which might also be a factor in him breaking through lol

  • Yes but he definitely needs better songs. Also, I don’t feel like he truly wants it. He would need to promote a lot there too.

they'll be back for his actual solo debut. hopefully the weak charting opens hybe/bts's eyes about thow wrong of a decision it was to support FIFA

Even bts mv release doesn't have this many upvotes = probably because non-army reddit users went there to upvote

    he doesn't

  • Absolutely, all he needs to be is authentic, make his own music, be himself and he'll be fine. If he/Hybe try to manipulate shit, like kpop does, then probably not.

  • I don't think so. He is not particularly great singer and he isn't a musician.

He's great at being golden maknae but there's not much he can offer as a solo singer.

His debut will chart well though.

  • Everything here reads like wishful thinking, you all really want to believe he is going to fail somehow.

You can not use a World Cup song to measure the success of an artist in the US, they don't have a football culture unlike everywhere else.

Niki Ninaj has a hit song at the top of the charts right now whilst her World Cup anthem is flopping. The US just doesn't care about anthems, these are not normal songs.

Second of all, the US isn't the entire West? Jungkook received praises from many locals in South America... you know, the West?

I don't know if he can o want to become a Western A-lister as a soloist but the potential is there

  • What is his music taste?

BTS did not break through with serious music.

people don't expect serious music from a boyband. but solo artists are different. the music should tell what kind of person they are. it has to have personalities. So far Jungkook's taste are just generic pop songs from other male soloists, he doesn't have his own vibe yet.

He listens to popular mainstream music and indie music. Harry and Justin did not make serious music when they went solo. Taylor Swift is back to form when she made popular music. It is called pop for a reason. Serious music is for an indie artist, not to break out in west.
