With the increasing success of acting idols from Produce groups like Sejeong, Jung Chaeyeon, Ong Seungwoo etc. Is acting the most promising path? Will Iz*one girls and X1 boys also benefit for doing more acting work?

    Approved the thread.
  • Acting is always the preferable path for many idols tbh.

The reach Kdramas have and the "prestige" of being an actor/actress is higher than a solo Kpop career. It's also no secret of that "idols" will always be labelled as a teen pop kind of thing. The only idol solo singers who have maintained a high level of success over the years and got recognised by the GP are IU and Taeyeon (on the female side at least).

Also, this just shows how most Kpop fans, especially on this site, don't know much about the Korean entertainment industry. People have been saying Park Jihoon and Wanna One members outside of Kang Daniel have been flopping for years, but in reality, they've been consistently working in dramas and films. The reactions domestically were also great as well. Jihoon got recognised for his acting in At a Distance Spring is Green, and Ong got casted in the sequel of hit drama Strong Woman Do Bong Soon.

  • Acting is always a promising path... Not just for produce stars.. But all idols.

    Hasn't Sejeong already proven that?

Mina, Chaeyeon are doing good too.

    IU, Suzy, Taecyeon, Junho.

Or even older idols like Seo Hyun jin, Jang Nara.. It is a long list.

  • Him (before the weight gain) and Jinyoung were honestly the best visuals in that group.
