Why people still say 2017 is the best year of Kpop?

  • Wanna One debuted with Energetic and became it boys immediately. Twice was dominating everything and Likey was a global hit. Bts began their American expansion with DNA. Blackpink in their pre DDDD era and was releasing good songs like As if it’s your last. Why was 2017 Kpop so good and what went wrong afterwards?

  • 2017 was the last year bgs had general appeal in the kpop community.

  • nah it was a garbage year, 2018 and 2019 were better

  • I think 2018 was the last great KPop year. After that it became too much about appealing to English speakers - in increasingly insulting ways.

  • Do they?

    2017

    Big breakout year for BTS,

    BOL4 releasing hit after hit.

Twice on their spree of 9 back to back #1s and Blackpink surging in popularity.

    Wanna One's impressive debut.

Also many 2nd gen groups going on hiatus, disbanding etc.

But IU returning after an year's break and dominating all the above.

Yes, today it looks to be a milestone year when 3rd Gen “arrived".

But it is only for the 3rd gen. For the 4th gen, it might 2022. For the 2nd gen it might 2010.

So the people who say 2017, must typically be a 3rd gen group fan and so are fixated on 2017.
