Are you in support of idols talking about their diets ?

  • Idols usually share stories about their gruelling diets to look "good" on camera.

Do you think if these diets were not idolized but they told the audience how hard their dieting programs are on their bodies and how the way their bodies are currently is not normal but a work of rigourous dieting and exercising plans it would be better for their younger audience?

My only aim here is that younger and more impressionable people realize what's healthy and what's not. And instead of diagnosing idols online people will also realise the important things that we can talk about.

    Approved the thread.
  • only healthy diets. not the ones where they starve themselves for days.

  • Honestly no. The problem isn’t that they’re dieting, it’s the type of diets they likely doing. We ve seen female idols drastically lose weight in a short amount of time which is not healthy at all. They also Lilly eat very little or starve themselves to reach that weight. Glorifying that as accomplishing their dieting routine sends the wrong message to people who look up to them.

  • I think it'd be ideal if we didn't generalise. Many idols do have a perfectly normal body and there's nothing wrong with watching what you eat and having a proper work out regimen. If more people did, we wouldn't have the worldwide obesity epidemic that we have and cardio vascular diseases wouldn't be cause of death number one.

But if we're talking about those one sweet potato per day diets, then yeah, that is extremely unhealthy.

  • Dieting in a healthy manner is not necessarily bad and it can help one achieve their weight loss goals. However, idols often follow extreme diets and that can lead to harmful side effects in the long run including triggering eating disorders. Hence, I don't like it when idols glorify extreme diets. Many kpop fans are young and impressionable and they may choose to follow their bias to look like them. If they are going to talk about their extreme dieting habits, they should be responsible and mention that it's not advisable to follow them and to consult their physicians or something before choosing to do so.

  • honestly no. my bias talked about her diet and it went viral and I hate that her name is tagged to it, and she's also uncomfortable with it now too

  • I'd rather they talk about their diets than the ones who look like they haven't eaten in weeks and constantly go "nooo I'm eating so well" "here's a picture of a burger I most definitely never ate" etc. Because that will make their fans super insecure. Before anybody goes some people are naturally skinny, yes, SOME. Certainly not as many as the kpop industry would suggest and almost all of these idols are very obviously not as skinny in their pre-debut pics, when they should theoretically be at their slimmest (aged 13-15). So yes, they're dieting and they should be honest about that.

  • transparency though. Company transparency.
