how does skin bleaching even work?

i can add to this controversial thread, that i saw the pictures of BP back stage and their skin colour looks darker than we are used to see them, it might been the lack of good lighting or the lack of korean filters on them.

But i also suspect that the dancers went to taning saloons cos that Trump colour looks shifty too
