Why did NCT127 stop being SM's favourite?

If you follow NCT127, you're aware 2 months before this cb, Taeyong said this album will be decisive, he felt pressured by staff and would give his all because he was always scolded when the group underpefrorms. Yuta also said if this song doesn't succeed, he doesn't know what will and all seem to be pressured as if they are tested.

This is the first time a NCT127 full album has no promotional videos and B-Side tracks (they decreased with every cb to 0 currently) and it seems SM invested less. Now nctzens are mad their promised world tour in 2021 never happened and they're doing only 2 shows in the US for their new album without any promises. The whole group seems pressured and the push seems scarily less than ever.

Is it because 127 is now 6 years old and SM is moving on (to groups like nct dream)?

how the fck is taeyong responsible for the group's song's success??? They keep giving them trash ass songs like sticker and expect them to top charts??? Not that dream's songs are good either.

I thought SM wanted to succeed with their own sound and that's why they keep giving nct and aespa those songs and even promote in the usa, but now I think they're really stupid and think those are good songs.

SM always decreases the amount of track videos for every group as time goes on, this year was the first time for NCT Dream as well. Taeyong recollections about being scolded date back to 2018.

But yes, this will be the last tour and comeback as a complete group before Taeil enlists. When that happens, we will likely see them prioritize 7Dream appearances over 8 member 127 appearances

It's like they've abandoned them. The tour was bad enough but the lacklustre and confusing roll out of the album teasers is causing fans to lose hype too.

I guess SM new boy group must be coming soon but they could at least try to maintain the groups they have instead of whatever this is..

I think SM had all their hope on NCT127 to finally be as big a seller as EXO at the time and the first one to actually break the 1M sale barrier was NCT Dream, not 127. So imagine pushing someone in every way and still underperforming and then someone comes along and gets what you've been wanting all this time. Of course, you are gonna push the more profitable one from now on.

Sm thinks rainbows shine out of his aeshole of course he would be narcissistic enough to believe anything baring the sm brand would succeed, even terrible unlistenable music, as long as they market it as something sooooo unique and ”not like other groups” and the sm stans would eat it up. And he was actually right to a point because there IS a faction of kpop stans bragging about stanning sm new groups and the “risk-taking” music lmao. But now the competition has ramped up the past year with so many top rookie groups putting out better music and sm doesn’t have the monopoly on the market anymore, so you start seeing the shift in consumer behavior favoring better music, leaving sm groups in the dust and unable to reach top top level

nct are producing their music though

This is exactly what happened with EXO. There was a point where SM could have kept pushing them and they stopped to worry about other groups. It happened to older groups like Shinee too. My impression is that once a group reaches a certain level of success/popularity, SM is like great “you can sell yourselves”, then walks off to the next thing.

I can’t believe in 2022 someone is still trying to push the narrative that 127 is underperforming rn and “doing worse” than Dream. Both groups are tremendously successful and the fact that one group did something a few months before another is hardly a dealbreaker from a financial perspective. Many groups would love to “underperform” while selling millions of albums and selling out 50K domes.
