Music has never been about achievements, before kpop I don't think I've ever heard anyone talking about music refer to charts or sales to highlight a group or artist. But kpop isn't about music, it's about choosing someone who represents you so you can live vicariously through them from the safety of your device.

What about western pop music? Swifties? Beliebers?

Album sales are definitely irrelevant in today's music industry. Views and streams? nope, not when it's the leading way to consump music nowadays and most kpop groups flop there
But views can still be manipulated and mass streamed…

The music?

Views and streams are the easiest and cheapest to manipulate.

Because many fans live vicariously through their faves and believe their faves achievements are their own
-
if your favs don't have them just say that, success are measured by metrics and those are some of the important ones
I would have no clue, I don't check out my faves numbers. I just see the threads bragging about numbers all the time as if it's an achievement to sit in a room and press replay over and over and over and over and over and over.

Visuals aren't the most popular members. Photocard and photobooks are boring.
The only time I ever hear about charting and sales is in kpop.
