Why do so many people

  • still act like charting and views and album sales etc are some massive achievement when it's been shown time and time again how easy it is to manipulate them?

  • so how do we measure achievement :pepe-shrug:

we have no choice but to work on what we have

  • What is important then???

Y'all love to pick and choose

  • Music has never been about achievements, before kpop I don't think I've ever heard anyone talking about music refer to charts or sales to highlight a group or artist. But kpop isn't about music, it's about choosing someone who represents you so you can live vicariously through them from the safety of your device.

  • Album sales are definitely irrelevant in today's music industry. Views and streams? nope, not when it's the leading way to consump music nowadays and most kpop groups flop there

What about western pop music? Swifties? Beliebers?

But views can still be manipulated and mass streamed…

  • How else will they feel good about themselves?

  • if your favs don't have them just say that, success are measured by metrics and those are some of the important ones

  • Because many fans live vicariously through their faves and believe their faves achievements are their own

I would have no clue, I don't check out my faves numbers. I just see the threads bragging about numbers all the time as if it's an achievement to sit in a room and press replay over and over and over and over and over and over.

  • are you going to ask why the visuals are always some of the most popular members too? What's next? Albums wouldn't sell that much without photo cards and photo books?

It's kpop. Even people who stan american celebrities are crazy about sales and charting, it's nothing new.

Visuals aren't the most popular members. Photocard and photobooks are boring.

The only time I ever hear about charting and sales is in kpop.
