Sure anything can be a media play.

But if claiming so, anything can be claimed, like YG is purchasing its own tickets and give for free, since BP can't even fill the arena etc.

Claims should have some basis.

It is indisputable that if any female can fill the stadium in Korea it is IU. There is simply no one to match her. Just saw a tweet that only she and BigBang debuted at Melon #1 after reform, though they released at midnight. Something which the much hyped and anticipated Pink Venom couldn't achieve, nor in ULs.

But outside Korea, it would be the reverse. BP will fill stadiums, set chart records etc. And not IU.

Anyway since we don't know the reasons behind the pricing of both parties and what is/is not media play, we both can assume whatever suits our narratives.

But it is delusional to think anyone is more successful than IU in Korea, when it comes to music.

I will leave it at that.

Using concert pricing to create comparison between 2 acts with different appeal.

And pricing is contextual, popularity of the act in just one of the factors.

Venue capacity, rarity and of course profiteering intention are all factors.

YG can charge more because they know there are enough fans to fill KSPO even at premium prices.

Whereas IU can charge less, give disability discounts, prevent scalping etc. because she has a greater authority in her company, and is known to go an extra mile in her generosity to fans.

She can choose not to make an historic 1st at Jamsil, an economically elitist affair.

Different motives, that need not be compared.

No other artists in korea can fill a 2+ hour set with number 1 hits only and nothing else and yet still not have time to perform all her hits. 160k won is a common price for jamsil stadium tickets. iu would've sold out the stadium no matter even if the most expensive tickets were 300k since the vip tickets were snatched immediately in presale.

blackpink weren't able to sell out their last KSPO dome concert btw, the concert's corporate sponsors gave out many of the tickets. there's a reason kfans are complaining about ticket prices. I'm curious how much their domestic fanbase has grown
