Is 3rd gen over if BP don’t debut straight #1?

NJ Attention is the undeniable smash of this year, even surpassing Next Level and its Uls. If Blackpink doesn’t manage to debut straight at 1, does it mean their power has officially declined and they’re over? Will they be able to at least outpeak the only other recent highest charting 3rd gen debut of Red Velvet at top 10 which no other group this year beat? BP even chose a bad release time at 1pm

no lol it's obvious that most newer girl groups coming out recently can't sustain their popularity look at aespa, Gidle trends come and go and what makes you think that newjean would not follow aespa faith and underperform in their next comeback?

NewJeans debuted with straight 3 top 10 tracks, something even BP couldn’t do with their debut because they were trying the less music, more streams tactic. why do you think blackpink can’t underperform but newjeans will?

look at twice’s 9 number 1 hits and now they can’t even break top 100 on melon…

blackpink only released 2 songs during their debut and promoted one on a few music shows not half as much as new jeans. In addition, newjeans released 4mv's and are actively promoting all their songs. I don't think it's comparable their whole promotion is different.

that’s true, which is why i am genuinely worried if BP will be able to surpass them now that it seems everyone has moved on from 3rd gen except Red Velvet and BP. BP will debut high but the question is if they will do it at 1 like all other times before

Bp is still one of the most searched gg this month in melon, past months too. Even ahead of gg who get their national hit and in their peak in sk like I’ve and gidle

Even if they do, still 3rd gen is over.

BP or others might be survivors, but the generation is definitively over in 2022 with 4th gen groups taking center stage.

Just because survivors are around, does not mean the generation is active. Then with Bigbang, Shinee, SuJu and of course IU- that would mean it is still the 2nd gen.

The momentum, the weight of groups have shifted to the 4th gen now, never mind how the older groups are doing.
