SNSD vs Blackpink: Who has more impact?

    SNSD's domestic popularity is unrivaled, and they're still going strong after all these years with drama, music, CFs,...Taeyeon/Yoona are still the top it girls.

    Blackpink has unrivaled popularity when it comes to global success. Jennie/Lisa are often cited as influence for the new girls.

    Blackpink has more influence worldwide but snsd has more influence on the industry itself. They are the reason pc even exist as we know it

    both I wouldn't even compare them they are both different generations

    they can't be compared. SNSD are the og, they founded the essence of what it means to a successful gg and dominate among bgs. blackpink is also doing the same now but snsd played part in the industry for ggs even of bp surpass them now.

    SNSD changed the game for ggs: made large number ggs common, huge album sales and tours beating bgs, inspired many to become idols including groups like Twice. Even BP were originally going to be YG infamous YGSNSD until they flopped with the training and let most of them leave.


    SNSD also expanded kpop worldwide. They were the biggest in Asia overall, rocked Japan, queens of YouTube (no gg was regularly getting multiple 100m videos at the time), made kpop branch in the west.


    Basically without SNSD kpop would very very different than it is now.

    SNSD has the biggest impact, but Blackpink has a bigger impact NOW. You can't become what you are now without some precedence, and SNSD didn't set small ones either, they were huge and made impacts that made all these possible.


    Different generation, different story, different measure of importance. Even before SNSD, S.E.S was a girl group that made dying hair possible for any other GGs to show on broadcasting. Now we associate dyeing hair as a sign of comeback, but back then they didn't allowed you to dye your hair and put a wig on it, S.E.S was so big that they made an exception after a while.


    So small steps, but later generations can benefit from. We can list what has changed, but don't pit them against each other. :mesmerized-bee:

    SNSD in korea. Overall BP, you can't just excuse SNSD with different generations and blah blah when SM tried hard to make them a thing globally, they just didn't have the appeal

    I can see the similarities which is why it's silly to compare them both influenced newer generations

    With out bts bp impact will be very limited while snsd didn't need bg help
