Kpop is just down overall

  • I know people are saying “x group lost hype” blah blah blah but the real reason is that kpop has lost a lot of traction due to the pandemic being over and people resuming their normal schedules. 2020/2021 was probably its peak globally, and with even BTS going on airplane mode and focusing on solo debuts, kpop has hit its peak for time being. I know physicals are up but that’s kind of the only market that is, and the prospective recession will not help.

As for Korea, I’m not really sure what’s going on there, these are just my thoughts about global.

The future is impredictable so I won't say you're wrong or right, personally yeah I don't think any group is going to hit BTS mainstream level any time soon but at the same time I don't really see any other industry replacing kpop's space in the global media rn. K-pop direct competition is probably the teenage boy/girl group industry like 5harmony, one direction, why don't we but K-pop is superior in most aspects aside from focusing in vocal talent... and tbh vocal talent is great but having an interesting sound/good performance wins :pepe-shrug:
