The whole Yoo Heeyeol circus did have a significance - it made the restoration of old order of KPop impossible

  • The whole Yoo Heeyeol plagiarism circus appears to have slowed down.

    However, it knocked out the most important venue for vocalists who continued to plague KPpp from within, and with his disgrace all the composers in late 1980s and early 1990s, whose firm grip on the vocalists maintained their relevance, are now being held with serious doubts.

    Lee Jieun somehow escaped from this, again, although she has been accused, because she did not compose the songs which are being accused.

    But she now stands alone, since all the singers being developed by the 80s-90s singers are now all undermined. Basically Lee Jieun's strategic position is no different from 2011 ; once again, she is the last vocalist standing

    All the potential vocalists are now heading for Trot, which won't be a factor as far as the world is concerned. It is not hard for a Korean to learn trot-style vocals so transition from a vocalist to a trottist is not hard like Lim Youngwoong, who was a balladist to begin with.

    NewJeans is now #1 in Melon.

    Even Melon, the hotbed for vocalists who undermined KPop for all these years, is now powerless against the 4th Generation.

    Whoever raising the question about Yooheeyeol did a greater service to KPop than anyone else in this year. He probably saved KPop from being taken over by the vocalists and old jerks once again like 2014.

    It seems KPop is now too big to be suffocated, and people like Yooheeyeol will have to lose their power completely to prevent attempting another Restoration of the Old Order.

    As long as Lee Jieun stands.. there is hope.

    I thought she was Galadriel, but maybe she is Aragorn..

    All that is groups do not glitter,

    Not all those who don't tour are lost;

    The old that is strong does not wither,

    Deep roots are not reached by the frost.

    From the ashes a fire shall be woken,

    IU from the shadows shall spring;

    Renewed shall be blade that was broken,

    The vocalists again shall be kings.”

    As to YHY, the plagiarism is a joke, once Sakamoto came to the defense. The problem is Sketchbook was already bleeding in viewership ratings, so it is better gone.

    Your jubilation is premature, the replacement if it comes with some major icon, actually might bring up the ratings.

    Think if IU takes it up, then single handedly she will revive the indie singers, the trottist and all the other genres.

  • No talk about a replacement after a month. All the musicians named for candidate have some skeletons in the closet which the plagiarism-hunters are digging up like hell so if they are named they will also be attacked. They already attacked Sung Sikyung, who normally doesn't compose his songs but they did get a song where he collaborated with YHY in composition.

    In fact SBS has asked Baek Jiyoung, who has NOT composed any of her own songs, to host a music program because they could not find anyone.

    It seems it is the fate of IU to stand alone, as the last of the vocalist tradition which will die with her.

    Well what is the hurry?

    And unlike idols, people like YHY are not easily pulled down by substance-less internet frenzy. He could have easily stuck on, but I think the falling ratings is the primary reason and this gave an exit.

    You can keep dooming vocalist tradition, but the joke is even Kpop groupies when they go solo will eventually end up being vocalists.

    That is not going to die at all.

  • Also IU need not even join a broadcast station program.

    She could just do the same on Youtube with Palette, more frequency, more variety of artists etc.,

    Here is an idea

    The Song Cover exchange is the highlight of her show. What if she does that with one unknown/less-known artist non-kpop and a well known artist - covering each others songs?

    TV broadcast is no more the only medium to reach millions. She can do it with the Youtube show itself and bring "vocalists" into prominence, the same way YHY did with Sketchbook,

    She can do that at her own pace and independence.
