If the comeback smashes and they all renew their contracts, they can live off that success for years and continue building their individual brands and focus on solo careers. With the way they are managed, there would be no need for other comeback.
If they underperform even slightly, they are done and YG will debut the newer version sooner.

I believe all of them will extend but after that they will focus on their individual careers only. That 2 years hiatus basically proved they don't have competition as a group. If the agust comeback is massive success and they solidify their position, there would be no need for them to promote the group more. They won't just suddenly start to release 2-3 albums a year, more like the opposite.

Most blinks do not care about kpop, bp is the only group we hardcore stan because of their music solely and a casual listener of other groups or listening to other genres. If we were success stans we would have moved on like so many leftovers do to other groups and take on the anti act I suppose
You are wrong, if they renew they will still have at least 1 group cb in the 3 years of extension, yes they will be focusing also in their solo careers as actresses and soloists, since seems 4/4 members are looking into acting as well as music. If they underperform yg isn't going to replace, they don't have any succesful act to lie on. 2ne1's disbandment was due Bom drug scandal and Minzy leaving, they made the group lost the hype so yg didn't see any future in them and has 1 cemented top bg and 2 promising at the time rookie bgs to rely on, so they didn't need 2ne1 losing money.

Bad assumptions all around. Their legacy is already cemented. They could disband tomorrow and they could all live off their success for the rest of their lives. And even if in your wildest dreams they disbanded, they would all have thriving solo careers and all their albums and songs would still continue to chart years later.
Why wouldn't blackpink extend their contracts? Unless they want out of idol life completely, they're still going to receive better treatment and a bigger budget at YG than they would anywhere else. If anything, they are privileged that they can take long hiatuses and breaks because if a non-big 3/4 group did this, they'd be forgotten in a heartbeat.
YG would be dumb to let them go and, unless they genuinely want to be soloists, they would be dumb to leave.
