Idols as role models

  • Idols are held to exceedingly high standards of moral perfection.

If they had shown any aggression even when they kids, even verbal aggression, use of any profanity, swear words, crude jargon etc., they will be in trouble and high chances of getting cancelled.

Yet K-pop fandoms in all forums including AKP are a salty lot, using offensive slang, profanity etc. is almost common place and normalised.

I am sure other fandoms - sports, anime, gamers etc would also have many such uncouth specimens.

But the celebrities in other field aren't expected to be pure and perfect ideals of moral rectitude.

So the distance between fans and stars in this aspect might not be noticeable.

Whereas in K-pop.. It seems an abyss.

The perfection expected of the idol vs. the profane behaviour of fans.

Seems idols aren't that influential as role models, when it comes to behaviour.

Of course fans come in many varieties, but crude behaviour should not be this noticeable in a field which values politeness in their celebrites.

  • well, its about outward expression. fans show their worst sides, idols show their best.

That's true. Idols have a good reason, but why do fans show their worst sides?

Internet of course has made many to be rude and crude, which they won't be in real life.

Still when idols are thus, isn't it interesting when fans behave like boors?

It's very true. Imo, in my day to day life outside kpop forums I have to act proper etc. Thus coming here is like letting loose you know. Alot of the trolls etc, are ppl who are taking out their stress and issues onto the forums.

That's sad, if K-pop fandom is where one shows off their worst, then it makes it like some bad part of a city, where criminals and corrupt gather.

It shouldn't be so, it should be music that relieves stress in K-pop, not troll behaviour.

Letting loose should be in vibing to songs.
