Why is Hot outcharting World despite being older?

  • Hot has been outcharting World on the Melon daily chart (#20 and #21 when I last checked). It is now outcharting World on the 24hits chart too by being at #43 while World is #53 despite Hot being months older. Hot wasn't "public friendly" but has still garnered more attention and been charting long for a boy group. World's Youtube and Spotify is also worse so it seems like fans prefer Hot in general. Was World too safe and "for the GP" and had a reverse effect on their charting? I like the song myself and am a Seventeen fan but this is what I feared when I heard it. I think Seventeen should focus on making interesting songs and trust their skills in less conventional safe songs. Aju Nice is their biggest song for a reason.

I'm impressed how much more Hot is preferred because people always say Seventeen should go back to their old sound/cute concept but it doesn't seem to sell as well. Rock With You also did better than World and it also leaned away from the cute concept. Hot, Rock With You, and Left & Right are the kind of vibes they should go for I guess because those are their most successful recent comebacks.

Maybe World would do better with the same chorus (it's good and saves the song for me) but add in more funk and dynamics (?) for the rest of the song like Aju Nice. It just felt a little flat and that's translating through its success I believe.

Yeah i agree that world was a bit bland(i can't find a better word). Idk it's kinda missing that spark and funkyness of their older songs while also (by far) not hitting the darker vibe of some of their recent releases. It's just eh without the chorus that saves it

  • Repackages usually do worse not matter how public friendly they are because fans are not that invested on it as with the full album title tracks. See nct dream with hot sauce vs hello future or nct 127 with sticker vs favorite as examples
