I've been watching Alchemy of Souls and Mudeoki keeps ending her verbs with -yu instead of -yo. Is that a pronunciation difference or is that a different form of polite speech besides the -yo/-nida ones? (No Hangul cuz I am very new to learning Korean and I don't have them on this device yet.) Thank you!

Hmmm... I thought she was just emphasizing the 'yo' part to sound polite esp to Jang Wook bec she doesn't want to speak formally to him. I dunno.

it's a dialect associated with lower class/various regions

as the person above me said, it's only a pronunciation difference because of her dialect. I'm not sure how much spoken korean you've heard, but she has a pretty strong dialect so you'll notice a difference between how she talks and Janguk for example, who speaks with a more standard seoul (or gyeonggi) dialect
