Why couldn’t SM groups attract more casual listeners compare to other big agencies

What could be the solution other than buying ads, etc.

  • Music is the only reason.

You can see which songs are popular and which aren't. Unfortunately lately they are following the sounds which weren't popular

  • Maybe because their obvious manipulation and media play is getting old not just for kpop fans but for anyone.

  • SM are the most traditionally K-Pop sounding and looking company out of the Big 4. That won't appeal to casual listeners, especially international ones. It's why EXO couldn't compete with BTS outside of Asia. And lore definitely doesn't appeal. This is why SM needs to ease off on shoving Aespa at western markets. It's not something they can force, and Girls is not the song. (Actually it's a shame Next Level wasn't used for this comeback because that might have done something.)

  • What are people talking about.

Red Velvet are in the Top 3 of girl groups of total streams in Spotify.

Aespa had 143M and 112M streams for Savage and Next Level which is more than most other groups incl TWICE had for their last comebacks.

Or were we just talking about boy groups?
