BTS never paved the way, they just made kpop more mainstream and that was something that eventually it would come anyway, independent of the group. 2nd gen promoted there and charted there before, even award show and succesful tours, just BTS made it mainstream and enlarged the stigma that it was against kpop with the fandom manipulation that billboard called out

True, their donation accounts couldn't have been louder if they tried. So "organic".

Then what is paving the way is to you? Because bts dedicated fans who later turned rabid showed american record companies how profitable they can be. Look at their industry now. Even a listers don't sell that much these day with a few exceptions.
Bp with all their mediaplay still didn't attend or win any shows, nor were they invited for any important events. Still no 4th gen can come close to their achievements let alone bts.
2nd generation promoted there like 1 or 2 times and that was it. Concerts don't count when bts managed to sell out stadiums and turn Vegas purple. I remember this tweet from one non kpop related professional saying how the Vegas thing is fascinating that no A lister in america managed to do that and that will never happen in the nearest years or ever. Psy was a monster in 2012 yet he didn't make all those album distributions available everywhere.
Armies did mess up the bb thing, I'm not arguing that. But let's not act like the stigma against kpop was going to go away anyway. It had racism behind it(and you can't change my mind). As if american popstars are not manufactured and controlled at all. They all give images to artists and have their own agendas. Prince(the slave on his cheek thing) or Mj and how they overworked him even in his 50s would say otherwise. Not exactly like kpop, but they do give you more fake illusion of freedom. Finally something not western is popular and the first thing they do is discredit it with - control, manufactured, depression, suicide. Yes, they can openly talk about it, but are their stars completely fine? As if sexual/physical/child/drug/alcohol abuses don't happen. Look at Justin bieber, or Doja. Americans are not as open minded as they think they are. Spanish is popular there due to large hispanic community(and plenty of acts are white or white passing) and the countries surrounding the states. The only popular non english acts were still white. Anyway, millions of cases and they're not as free as you think.
Just like Boa and Dbsk opened the door to Japan, Bts did with America. They didn't close a thing bc
Boy groups of 4th gen still can't be compared to what bts was in 2017. Just in 5 years coming from a non big 3 company, they were selling out stadiums in American and European countries. And kmca know there won't be an act like bts coming soon at all which why they are begging them to come back bc there won't be another chance to make a criteria for exemption for ALL idols if bts won't be exempted.

if they paved the way then it wouldn't end with them
im starting to think they never paved the way at all if it was just them carrying KPOP
