    Blame their agency for bad promo. They never get big amount of playlist reach. SM doesn't properly pushed their group in Spotify unlike other agencies. Companies pay to put their artist in big playlist so more people will hear them. An example of one of the biggest playlists is Today's Top hits which has 31m followers. SM putting their acts in unpopular playlists instead of big and popular playlist to gain more reach. Also, Hybe acts for example gets privileges from being BTS junior hence army…

    If they have a large Chinese fandom (who purchase a lot of albums), they probably are listening to the songs on their platforms like Tencent, Netease or Baidu.
