does anyone but moas seriously consider GBGB rock???

  • For the sake of fairness I'm not comparing the song to actual band music, but the use of rock by other kpop acts. GBGB is a kind of pop-hiphop mix that is very typical of kpop boy groups, with some faint guitars added to the instrumental. That barely qualifies as rock inspired, even in the context of kpop. Many kpop acts have done songs with a lot heavier rock influences. Girl groups, boy groups, groups from their own generation.

Yet their company promotes TXT as some trendsetters who brought rock to kpop. The song or the group are not my problem; you can like TXT, you can like GBGB, but I find this kind of mediaplay a tiny bit laughable.

    Approved the thread.
  • You can understand why moas believe TXT is #notliketheothergirls and #trendsetters. Their company is constantly mediaplaying it while brainwashing their fans. I will give HYBE that at least.

Nope. It has some elements but it’s not rock. And not Hiphop either. It’s kpop. Trends come and go and BH timing was good with the more rock sound during their last title. I wouldn’t call it laughable, but smart. It hit the sweet spot for a lot of people and they continue what they started.

  • as an actual fan of rock, i always find the way kpop refers to rock music so embarrassing. or when like a wall of rock/alt/punk band logos is treated as an aesthetic/“concept”. the random rock t-shirts worn by kpop singers who likely have no idea whose shirt they’re wearing lol.

and there’s something so naive about it all that makes that it much worse/cringe. like at least lean into the irony.
