Why aren't Purple kiss popular?

    Approved the thread.
  • because the GP don't know good when it hits them.

Maybe their more dark concept isn't appealing.

Also while the girls are very pretty, their visuals might not be as appealing compared to other 4th gen groups.

  • I think it's just due to alot of factors. Maybe it is not their lucky year, or they do not have a good marketing team. They don't lack talents, that's for sure. But even MMM went unoticed for a while, so maybe give some times for the GP to warm up? Also chances are they won't be on the radar, so there's that.

Nowadays, trending is everything and interaction with fans are key. I think the company should invest in doing series with the girls, like fromis9 or Itzy, they do alot of fun series among the group. I think fans would love that and get more exposure. I know Moonbyul tried to help them every time she can, having them on MoonNight multiple times and also invited to camping.

But then again, the market is just so competitive, extremely hard to break through. And the truth is that they do not have any outstanding visual in the group. People go crazy for visuals and that's mostly what they care about. Shame, but reality.

  • In order to be popular, you need to either

    - come from a big company

    - slowly grind your way to the top

    - get a viral hit out of the blue

  • Said something that compared them with nct and how music isn't everything and of course my post didn't get accepted hah mods in anons be defending sm ass since day 1

  • Not from a big company.

Their far more talented then almost all the big 4 groups, but that's what the big 4 privilege gets you. Runway models who can barely sing, but they look good so sell by the bucketload. Look at how many people are falling over themselves for the snoozefest that is "Fearless".

I will also admit that "MeMeM" is a great song until the chorus. Why they chose a terrible clanging shouty chorus like that is really a big miss by RBW, and it certainly didn't do them any favours to gain GP recognition.

  • Small company

    Dark music

    Weak visuals

  • Not from a big company and there music isn't different. Mamamoo stood out when they debuted i expected the same from them but they didn't, sadly.

  • just like lightsum, despite coming from a knownn company with popular sunbaes, they just don't stand out despite having talented members. there's nothing about them that makes you want to follow their releases.

  • They're very talented, pretty, and I love most of their songs, in fact they have one of my favourite 4th gen gg discographies.

However, they're not from a big company and the number of moomoos supporting them is negligible.

For a group like them, there's two ways to become big: go viral or slowly but steadily build a fanbase.

But I think their chances at going viral are hindered by their title track choices. Ponzona was a pretty good debut song but not exactly an earworm in the way Weeekly's After School or Stayc's ASAP were. Zombie was catchy and fun yet for some reason it never took off. Maybe the concept was too specific to turn the song into an edit sound? The chorus feels to isolated from the rest of the song? Or just pure bad luck? I don't know. Moving on...memeM, in my opinion, is one of their weakest songs. Some parts are really nice by themselves but the song overall is disjointed in a bad way, and too obviously meant to be aespaesque; the song is just not interesting. It blends in with what a lot of ggs are doing already.

And for bsides it's more difficult to go viral if you don't have a big audience in the first place; although I've been seeing a lot of people appreciate Pretty Psycho recently :mesmerized-bee:

Sometimes I also feel like their concept could be executed a bit better? I like their darker concept, but sometimes it ends up being too....vague? I felt that way about memeM in particular. I didn't think "oh these visuals are so typically Purple Kiss" just "ah. "it's a dark gg concept"
