I. Profile
Park Gyeong-bok (박경복), also known as Park Seoham, is a South Korean singer, actor, and model under NPIO Entertainment. He is best known for being a member of the boy group KNK and starring in the popular BL web drama "Semantic Error."
II. Career
Before Park Seoham pursued a career in acting, he initially became a trainee of Big Hit Entertainment alongside KNK member Inseong, and they practice alongside the members of the now-supergroup, BTS. However, he decided to move to JYP Entertainment, after winning 2nd place at the company’s 10th Open Audition on February 19th, 2013.
But after years of being a JYP trainee, Seoham left and signed to 220 Entertainment as an idol trainee. As a new trainee under 220 Entertainment he became a backup dancer for the live performances of BESTie's "Zzang Christmas" and "I Need You". Then on March 3rd he finally debuted as a member of KNK becoming the Main Rapper, Vocalist, Visual, and Face of The Group.
And on September 30, 2021, it was announced that he has concluded his activities with KNK and decided to leave KNK and 220 Entertainment after long discussions with the members regarding the future of his career.
After leaving KNK, Seoham was devastated to the extent of crying after finishing his promotions with KNK. The group he was part of for 5 years and spent his early 20s in. Seoham had a hard time when he looked back at his trainee days and all of KNK's promotions.
I was really exhausted and was thinking that I should stop and retire.
My trainee period was long, I worked hard as a member of KNK. When I thought of Park Seoham without KNK I couldn't think of anything. My 20s were KNK and I wondered if my 20s were disappearing.
The 'no fun' time of life had arrived. After I left KNK I wasn't confident in promoting and doing activities alone and I didn't have the confidence to do something more in the future. I thought 'ah, I should retire now' and packed up all my things in Seoul. I even told the landlord of the house I was living in alone that I would be moving out but it was then that I got the casting call for 'Semantic Error'.
The turning point in his life would change when he got the part of Jang Jaeyoung in Semantic Error.
Display MoreIt was after I left my previous company, 220 Entertainment that I got another call to be Jang Jaeyoung. I said I would think about but it was fascinating to see Jaechan there.
I went to the audition thinking 'am I able to do this'.
Even then one week of auditioning took up quite some time. I had to read the original, read the script, and I didn't have a company so I organized everything by myself and it wasn't easy. If a day has 24 hours, I read the script for 14 hours and organized everything else in the 10 hours.
The reading for all actors was only a few days away and I thought I wouldn't be able to do it. But this project came during my burnout and the other actor was Jaechan so I thought that I would just try. I started by thinking 'it's an experience that I can't buy'. Luckily it was rainy season so the filming was pushed back by a week and so I got 2 weeks to prepare.
At that time I did the reading with the producer for 6-7 hours, they must've been tired of doing the reading with me and Jaechan... When the last reading finished (they) also helped so I was very thankful.
The fan's and Jaechan's ongoing support helped his confidence grow each day.
Display MoreI went to the filming with low self-confidence and the producer even asked 'why are you not confident and intimidated?'.
But Jaechan gave me confidence.
Whatever I did, Jaechan would say 'Hyung you really seem like Jaeyoung' and complimented me, I was thankful for that. We both understand the hardships of being an idol, at that young age, Jaechan must've understood how I was feeling.
Despite being busy with his comeback, Jaechan reduced his sleep time to help me so I thought how could I repay him, Jaechan who always feels bad when I buy him something, said 'I'll make it so that you become used to receiving things'.
I had about 170K followers on Insta but now it's about 220K and I have a KKT chatroom. I always liked communicating with my fans so I haven't left the KKT chatroom but there are more than 1000 people talking about me. It's fun and cute seeing that.
Sometimes when I see the chatroom I tear up without knowing it. It's the same with DMs. When I see the fan's messages I think 'is this a dream', 'is this real'. Words like 'thank you for holding on', 'thank you for being Jang Jaeyoung' all make me emotional.
My existing fans and new fans are always saying 'I hope you succeed more', I tear up because of that. It's more emotional when I read it at dawn.
